Thats pretty interesting Jim... Sure sounds like you are close to just right in the midrange. I really don't like the way this carb is so limited in adjusting the needle. I suppose Mikuni makes shorter / wider / etc needles to bolt in, but how does the average Joe know what they are? Be interesting to see what happens to your WOT HP / torque and midrange power with one size larger main jet. I have been thinking (oh-oh, shouldn't be doing that thinking stuff) to compensate for the limited needle adjustment, I will change the idle jet up a size or two. This will add a small amount of fuel to the carb across all RPM. Maybe just turn down the idle set screw to compensate for the resulting faster idle. Good luck with your mods, Jim. That Dyna muffler should look pretty good on the Savage.
